Recovering a server with IDR in a SAN environment

Hi,

I have 10 media servers using the same library with SSO and one of those servers is the pirmary. I also have IDR in the primary server. How can I recover the primary server using IDR if it crashes ? The primary server is also the CASO master server and the SQL server or the whole environment.
Will IDR be able to recover the server to a state it can recognize the SAN ?

Thank you.

Hi Shweta,

I have a PowerVault 136T connected to a primary media server using a SAN and more 9 media servers connected to the same PV 136T using the same SAN and being managed by the primary server wih CASO. I backing up data from each server directly to the PV using the SAN and using IDR to backup up the primary server. What I need to know is how to restore the main server to the exact same state using the IDR. What do I need to backup, any additional steps, etc.
The OS running the primary server is W2K3.

Thank you.

Hello,

Summary of what needs to be done:

1. Run a full backup of server
2. Create a bootable CD
3. Burn the bootable ISO image to CD
4. Create the IDR diskettes (Required for Windows XP/Windows 2003)
5. Periodically update the IDR diskettes

Required items before proceeding:

1. Available tape for full backup of server
2. Operating System (OS) installation CD/files
3. Product Key from OS installation CD/files
4. Blank CD-R or CD-RW
5. Software to burn the ISO image to CD
6. Floppy diskettes (usually 2 are needed)

You will need the following to recover a computer using IDR

1. The bootable IDR CD that was created for this computer
2. The 2 IDR diskettes created for this computer
3. The tape with the last FULL Backup for this computer
4. Also - any INCREMENTAL or DIFFERENTIAL backup tape(s) for this computer
