Hi, when trying to backup a remote Windows 2003 Server, im getting the folowing errors:
Job ended: 22 December 2008 at 23:59:06
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0009418 - Access to a device was not authorized with this edition of Backup Exec.
Final error category: Other Errors

Please contact your vendor for information on protecting remote servers with this edition of Backup ...
Access to the device \\server1\D: is not authorized with this edition of the product.
It has worked fine up to about two weeks ago which once we noticed it put it down to the 60 day evaluation expiring.
We've now got "Remote Agent for Windows and Netware Servers" license key installed which assumed would cure this.
can anyone offer any advice please? the backup only consists of flat files.
Thanks

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Backup Exec copy the file besernum.xml to your desktop.
Go to Tools>Install options and license keys on this media server
Select the base serial number (license) if it shows the error for the evaluation period else select the agent as specified in the job log and click Remove
Click on Import and navigate to the besernum.xml file copied to the desktop. This will reinstall all your existing serial numbers. Once imported, click Next.
Click Next and Install to complete the serial number installation

Try this:
Make a copy of your besernum.xml file just in case.
Edit the besernum.xml file to only have the following lines (this is what is in the besernum.xml before any keys are added):
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<SerialNumbers/>
Go to "Tools>Install options and license keys on this media server" and remove any licenses. Before you leave that location, also click Import. It will open the directory location for your edited besernum.xml file and import that, and hit next until you finish.
This should put you back to a trial version, in other words, cleaned of licenses. Restart BE and check that you are indeed on the trial version by looking at the blue bar at the very top of the box. It should say "Evaluation Version: day x of 60" or maybe "expired", depending. We are just checking that you have cleaned the licenses out, so it does not matter.
Then go back to "Tools>Install options and license keys on this media server" and reenter your licenses manually.
I just tested this procedure on my test installation and it worked, so I hope this works for you.
