I'm using BU EXec 10.0 on windows small business server 2003. I keep getting an error when running a job to the tape drive (HP storage works Ultrium 448)

I get this error:

Job ended: Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Completed Status: Failed
Final error: 0x00084f3 - The block size being used is incorrect
Final error category: Backup Device Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-34035

I have run the tapeinst.exe utility, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, nothing helped there.  I did a clean reboot and nothing helped.

Any help is appreciated.

I found a .VSD written by tapeinst.exe that was not in the format expected.  I removed it and ran tapeinst.exe again and it rediscovered the drive and recreated the VSD file.  I am running the backup now and it appears to be working

Hi there,

Check the block size on that device under Devices, and reset it to 64K if need be.
If the block size is too large, it can cause issues with backups or restores.

You go to propreties of the drive, and configuration tab should show it.

Thanks
