Hey all,

do i really need CPS if i installed BackupExec 12.5 at all?

Because I think BackupExec saves all DB's at all, so is CPS necessary at all?
If yes what is the difference between CPS and BackupExec i think both save the DB's.

Thanks

We installed BE 12.5 on a SBS 2003 and already make Full Backups from all Datas (Exchange, Sharepoint etc.).
So I need to know what is the difference between an Full Backup with BE and a Backup with CPS?
Is it necessary to install CPS if BE already make Full Backup?

Thanks for Help

Hi Snooze

The main difference between full backups with Backup Exec and CPS is that your full backup with Backup Exec is a point in time backup, and anything created between the backup and the failure is not backed up, whereas CPS allows you to restore to any point in time up to the failure.

As for if it's necessary to install CPS, that's really up to you and the business, depending on your requirements.

Hope this helps

Doug.
