This is a general question, but currently I have only enough tapes to hold 2 months worth of revolving backups. I do a full weekly backup followed by incrementals and then swap tapes at the end of the week. I know I am severely limiting myself here, what is the best practice?
Should I perform a full backup and store a set of tapes every 6 months? I really need more media but the budget is lacking.
My setup is 3 AIT-3 drives in 2 Sony Spectra 2000 libraries. They hold 15 tapes each (minus 1 for cleaning tape) and I use about 22 tapes total every week for backups.
What do you guys do? Thanks!
