Why run manual inventory every day?

I use Backup Exec 10 on a Windows 2003 server with a DAT72 drive. This is a single dat, not an autoloader system.

Everytime I insert the next day's tape, I have to run an inventory. If I don't, the backup job fails.

How can I get Backup Exec to automatically detect the tape so it will automatically become ready for the next scheduled backup without having to run an Inventory every time?

Hello,

Please note that Backup Exec can recognize new media only after performing an Inventory job.
Inventory jobs can be configured as a Utility job i.e. a job can be scheduled as a recurring job.
