You need atleast 1 Remote Agent license to backup network share.
Network shares can be backed by adding the UNC path in the user defined selection.

Refer: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH23840
Even with the license installed on media server, your backup jobs would be completing with exceptions. Job log would show remote agent is not found on the remote server. User-defined selections are actually for backingup data from machines which are nomore compatible for remote agent installation or when it is not possible to install the agent (like some NAS devices).

Hi guys
just run the licens scan and voila i have the " Remote Agent for Linux Server or MAcintosh System". Now the only question is how i gonna istall the Mac Agent. The same way as Windows Agents? I think not because by starting the agent deploy assitant i see only three things to choose: Bckup Exec-Server, Windows-remote-Agent, Netware-Remote-Agent but not a MAc Agent.
Can you help me to install it?
Thanks to all

You look for a RALUS/RMAL/RAMS directory under the Agents directory under the BE installation directory. You need to install the RAMS manually. After that, you got to patch it with the patches in the Agents directory.

Not to be funny, but it's not simply a case of "Voila It's there!". You still need to purchase the license key to be compliant!

i don't know what you mean, why i have to purchase it, i have it allready.
The Server was handeled by an other admin so i thought we do not have the mac lisens, but after the licens scan i saw we have this licens. See attachment. So what do you mena with no to be funny?

OK...so there is a bit lost in translation here. By saying "not to be funny", I am meaning I am not mocking you or being sarcastic. So that's done...
Your message above said you just did a license scan, but didn't mention you already owned the license for Mac which you've now explained. My point above was that you can't simply add the Mac license (if that was what you had done) by ticking it. You needed to buy the license too...
But your picture post above has explained everything nicely.
Thanks!

Are you still under maintenance? You need to buy the agent. If you select it, you'd simply get a 60-day trial.

BE was bought some years ago so we have the licens since years. So why i have to buy the licens again? Just wanted to download the agent with my licens serial number for this option

Actually licenses never expire, but maintenance contract does.
I am not sure why fileconnect is not accepting your serial number. (Might be because of the expiry of maintenance contract).
As you are so sure that you have the Mac agent license, download the trial version of BE, extract it and grab the mac agent from there.
Forgot to ask, have you checked the software compatibility lists to find out whether the Mac OS version you have is compatible or not?
You can find the download links to earlier version of BE here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/faq-download-links-earlier-versions-backup-exec

OK, so again this is information after it. Nobody had an idea you owned the license.
That said, check the links below:
See if any are relevant!
