backup problem after Shuting Remote Agent off during the day

I am getting backup errers almost every night like
Error category    : Resource Errors
Error             : e000846b - The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent. 
Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer.

We saw backup exec remote agent using to many processes during the day and was causing problem with our web and DB server. So I was ask to shut down remote agent down during the day. I did this with a simple batch script.  But now I am seeing backup problems.  Is there any reason why the remote agent need to be on running all the time and could that be causing my backup problems

Can't think of any reason why the Agent would be using resources when a Backup is not running.

And shutting down the agent, then restarting before the backup jobs start should not pose any problems either

Did you try un-installing and re-installing the Agent?
