creating copy of duplicate

I understand how to use policies to create a two step backup, first to disk and then to tape. But I really want two tapes, one to go offsite and one to keep onhand for convenient file restores.

When I try to create this job, it tells me that I can only have one duplicate job based on each backup job. Is there some way around this? I think I may be being too literal here.

Hello,

please see the technote below:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/256096

Please try doing the following:
1. create a policy with the normal backup job and then duplicate that job and select the option in the duplicate job as "Duplicate backup sets following a job" target this to tape1

2. Then create a seperate backup job outside the policy select the option "Duplicate existing backup sets" and then select the normal backup job and target this job to a Tape2

Please update us.

Thanks,
