dlt320 drive not showing up in veritas 8.60 rev 3808

Can anyone tell me why I cannot see my new tape drive the quantam dlt320 in veritas. I can see it in device manager in windows and the scsi controller is working fine but veritas doesnt see the drive.

Have you re-run the device wizard since connecting the new drive?

I see this in the event log A parity error was detected on \Device\Scsi\Sym_u31. any ideas?
