how to copy media server configuration BE2010R3

I am using Backup Exec 2010 R3.

I would like to export the info about jobs, selections, media sets etc. so that i can import this info in a new media server also running BE2010R3, so eliminating the need of reentering all the job info.

I found article TECH37072 and tried "copy media server configuration" to a file. However, i got no error, but no .cfg was created in the selected map.

also, the "backup exec server" service was stopped.

Does anyone know what happens here, and how i can crate this config file?

The server is running Window2003R2.

Many Thanks,

Luc Vandromme

Hi, For migrating your BE 2010 jobs, catalogs and such information between and old and new server, you may find this blog topic of mine helpful.

You may try "Copy Database" option. It will copy entire BEDB to the new server.

There is small problem with Copy Database, it will show the old media server name, tape devices

and B2D folder name in the devices tab of the new server. The option to delete the server and device

name is disabled. Only way to get rid of the names is to edit BEDB.

For copy database refer to http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49757

Hi there,

You can read the TN below on how to move BE to another server. I've done it before and it has succeeded, although I have had problems on 1 or 2 occassions...give it a bash though.

The important thing is that the media server name needs to be updated within BEutility.exe.

Thanks!
