restore server on virtual machine

Hello. I want to restore all data and system state from one of my servers to virtual machine with another ip and dns-name. 
"File redirection" cant redirect "system state" on another computer .

Though I have never tried doing so but I have on TN which says it is possible...

You can redirect the restoration of System State to the Volume or Folder on other server.

Check out the below mentioned TN which is for redirected restore of the AD. Check the 5th point which describes the System state part
