Varyonvg Options "-u" on Aix

Hi all: what do you think about usng the "-u" flag in the VaryonvgOpt (Aix)? Peolple of Veritas, when installed my clusters, set this flag,...but I am afraid that the risk of split brain is increased whit the "-u"...

Do you have any experience with this?

are there issues with your disks supporting SCSI reservation?

I actually don't know why they did it...

SCSI reservation is supported by our disks.

Have you had any issues with SCSI disk reservations causing disk locking and severe perfomance issues in your clusters?

I understand your concerns with split brain syndrome by leaving the disk unlocked but I am not sure how high that probablility is.

I would like to hear what your experience is.

Hi: my experience is not a good one...due to network problems. But it seems to me that having the disks locked could be a further prevention ....

And, anyway, as I can't see advantages using this flag "-u", I am wondering why I should use it.
