About dedupe server of DLO 7.6

Hi,

Just deployed DLO 7.6 and configuring it.

1) How to consider dedupe server is needed or not ?

2) Since all DLO applications were installed on same server. If dedupe server was used, how much performance will affect to the server ?

3) Dedupe affected to destination only ? Source PC / Laptop files still deplicated ?

Thanks

1) DeDupe helps in saving storage space at the NUDF so its usually beneficial.

2) Hardly. DLO's DeDupe is quite different from BE's DeDupe and is not I/O intensive and neither does it require the hardware specs like BE's DeDupe

3) DLO provides source-side DeDupe.

Since dedupe need to copy to "Desktop" folder.

- What's the "Desktop" folder path ?

- If only 1 copy is needed, then dedupe can be disabled ?

- What's NUDF ?

Thanks

- The default Desktop User Data Folder (DUDF) path is C:\Documents & Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Symantec

- It depends upon your choice if Dedupe is to be enabled or disabled. Having one or more copies doesn't make much of a difference.

- NUDF is Network User Data Folder is the location on the network where all user's data is stored.
