Archive Explorer Is Not Showing all archived items

Hi All,

We are running EV8.0.4.1991 (Client and Server) with Outlook 2003 SP3.

I am experiencing a strange problem with a couple of my users (2 identified so far, out of about 2.5k mailboxes).

The Archive Explorer is not showing the items that should be in their archives, in one case only a single item is visible with no folder structure at all. However if you do a search for one of the missing archived items it is found correctly, and if the user opens their stub it opens and works normally.

I found an article suggesting the use of the following URL to verify the information being returned by the EVdatabase

http://EVServername/EnterpriseVault/TreeViewXML.asp?archiveid=UserArchiveID&version=1

I have tried this and the database is returning the correct information (as best as i can tell).

I'm now a little stuck with how to try and fix this for the users, i'm debating rebuilding the users indexes, but i'm a little wary of doing this incase it makes the situation worse.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue, or have any advice?

Many Thanks,

Paul

So you're saying the item is missing or the folder it's in is missing? If the folder itself is missing then it will definitely be a linkage issue in the archivefolderview So firstly the main suggestion is don't do index rebuilds, it never resolves archive explorer problems ever ever ever So I guess my question is when you've seen this, have you been logged in as their user or did you give yourself permission to their archives and view the results? If you haven't tried that, give yourself read permissions to their archive in the vac and see what output you get I do believe though something very similar to this was posted a couple of days ago

Thanks for your response.

The folders are missing, but then so are items which should be at the top level of the archive store (what equates to the inbox), and so wouldn't be in a folder.

I think you're probably right about the archivefolderview, I will do some checking on this when I get into the office.

With regard to the user accounts, I have tried the setup from the users machine, a different machine logged in as the user, and from the EV Server using my account with permissions to their vault, the behaviour is identical in all cases, which should rule out a client side issue.

I did have a look back through the last few weeks worth of posts, as well as running some searches, unfortunately I couldnt find anything which looked like being the same issue.

As I initially said the items are definately still in the vault, it just seems to be the archive explorer view which has gone awry.

Are these by any chance from imported pst's being a different language than the mailbox?

Guys,

Thanks for your responses. I've managed to fix it now, googled the url mentioned above and found an article explaining how to repair the ArchiveFolderView.

I've attached the URL for anyone else experiencing the same problem:

Thanks again for the pointers.
