Archive Explorer and Search Vault will not open

I'm having in an issue on a new Citrix server installation using Office 2003 and the EV7 client.  The archive viewing of individual messages from Outlook works fine but I cannot launch the Archive Explorer from within Outlook.  The verbose logging from EV shows:

The notable errors I highlighted (as far as I can see).  Visibly, the screen might flicker for a second like is trying to change to the Archive Explorer URL but it remains on the standard Outlook screen with no error posted to the user, just doesn't come up.  If I load the Archive Explorer URL in the browser I can view it fine.  I can even load the URL in Outlook from the Shortcuts screen and it works fine there.  It just will not launch from the button.

This turned out to be a profile error for us.  When we deleted the Outlook profile on Citrix and created a new one, it worked fine.

The only thing I can come up with so far is this: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/308808.htm but it's for Outlook 2007. I assume that you do not use cached mode, and hence no vault cache / offline vault and no "offline archive explorer", correct? Cheers Michel

Correct.  No cached mode, no offline.

Regular archiving/unarchiving works fine, just the Archive Explorer fails.  Doesn't even work if I turn on "launch in browser"

I know you say that archiving and restoring works.  When you double click an archived item it opens up ok?

Also have a look at these:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281679

http://support.veritas.com/docs/293581

When we double click it opens fine.  We get no error from the Archive Explorer link other than the note in the logs about "Cannot get mailbox name".

I have this exact issue and was wondering if anyone had found a fix for it.

Looking at the trace we can see the following line :-

25/03/2009 13:25:35.429[2588]: Outlook Exchange Connection Mode: 3

Below are the Exchange Connection Mode Values :-

olNoExchange = 3,

olOffline = 2,

olCachedOffline = 5,

olDisconnected = 4,

olCachedDisconnected = 6,

olCachedConnectedHeaders = 7,

olCachedConnectedDrizzle = 9,

olCachedConnectedFull = 8,

olOnline = 1

Looking at the following MS site - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa168454.aspx it states the following :-

Returns an OlExchangeConnectionMode constant that indicates the current connection mode the user is using. Returns olNoExchange in a POP, IMAP, or Hotmail profile.

So, does any of this ring true with this particular account? Is it just one person? Have you tried recreating their MAPI profile? Have they been migrated from another system?

The 0x80040201 seems to have a number of possible reasons - bit of a hard one!!!!

Hi

Is this for all Citrix users on this Server, or just for a particular one?
Is ArchiveExplorer working in the browser? (http://evserver/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp)
Could you upgrade the EV Client to a newer version? (7.5 SP5)

Cheers
