I've been to three clients now where the combination age & quota-based archiving has been implemented. The archiving itself works fine, and from what we can see in the mailboxes, it works under the following logic:
- Archive by age first
- If the quota threshold is not met, archive down to the threshold.
However, when I run up an archiving report, I will commonly see where the 'Ready to Archive' column can have thousands of items eligible, while the 'Would be Archived' column is listing zero items.
In the past, this always indicated that, while there were items that met the age-based criteria, they would not be archived because the mailbox was under the quota threshold. The fact that I'm seeing these very same mailboxes that are reporting like this with their quota under the threshold and items older than the policy date being archived tells me that the archive report is broken at this point.
Has anyone else seen this?
