Archive Retrieve Error

Hi,

I have Enterprise Vault 6.0 with SP1 on Windows 2003 SP1. All of a sudden I am not able to retrieve any archived files from Desktop / Explorer etc. I can see archived file but after clicking on it , it says file not found / permissions error etc. I can however retrieve file through Archiveexplorerui.(Browser).

Anyone aware of possible cause.

Did you just upgrade to 2003 SP1? You'll need the set the disableloopbackcheck reg key and the disablestrictnamechecking reg key as well.

Also check if the placeholder service is running properly on your file server. When you click on an item with Explorer that should make the call through the placeholder server, when you use archive explorer that will retrieve the item directly from the EV server.

SP1 was deployed almost two months back & registry keys are in place..Infact w have couple of more entries as well which aloows upto 60000 files recall from Archieve which earlier was limited to few. I spent almost entire day doing webex session with Symantec but no luck. Fortunately one of my other colleague who was also working on thsi issues happened to Stop - Start winhttp autoproxy service which worked like a magic. I could that open all my archives. I informed Symantec on this & they have no clue. I still cannot understand what is the role of winhttp or http ssl service when we wan't to retrieve file from users desktop either with Fil - Open option through their application or launching from Explorer or my computer. Even though Archive retrival is okay now just can't understand why winhttp autoproxy service Stop - Start did the magic..

I am still trying to understand what could be the issue.
