Change Server Alias

I have faced a question,

I have setup the EV server Alias name as my AD's server name.

Now, I find a problem, I cannot access it through Internet with Shortcut.

The shortcut will show Internal AD address which I cannot access in Internet.

How can I change the Alias name? And How can I recreate all the Shortcut point to the Internet address?

Is there any command to Restore all the mail in 1 mailbox instead click all of them?

Thanks for any help.

Hi

Just create a new alias in dns and update the ComputerEntry in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory Database.

Then recreate your shortcuts if you use custom ones:

Are you doing mailbox archiving?

Which version and service pack of Enterprise Vault are you using?

How are you trying to access the shortcuts externally ?  Is it via RPC/HTTP (aka Outlook Anywhere?) If so then the EV Outlook Add-in and policy settings, can be configured to make that work.

You can restore all mail to a mailbox by using the Export Archive functionality in the Vault Admin Console.  An option in there is to restore the items back to the original location.

I found that in the Enterprise manager, the entry is as below:

1972F66811A110946BA99CBBDB3ACD5F51410000hldsev01.xx.hk.xxx

Can I just rename the last part hldsev01.xx.hk.xxx to  hldsev.xxx.com?

Is there anything I need to change as well?

Your help really help me.

Thank you very much

nonono don't change this, the site alias is stamped over absolutely everything from archive ids, folder and vault id's, take id's service id's etc etc, you cannot change this, the best you can do is to keep the alias resolvable through dns
