Hi!

We have upgraded to Enterprise vault 10.0.2 and also installed the outlook add in 10.0.2 on our clients.

most of the clients running Win XP and outlook 2003 and that works good as far as I know.

Some are running Win XP and Outlook 2010 and they cant open archived items. Works from OWA.

Also  have some Win7 Outlook 2010 that cant open archived items.

I can open archived items from my Win7 outlook 2010 pc.

Tip anyone?

Thanks!

Do they receive any errors? When it opens the shortcut there should usually be a grey bar saying the item failed to load and when you click it, it gives the error dialog as to why it couldn't open But yeah, really need more detail as to what's actually going on and would probably be best getting a client trace

Hi,

What version of exchange and have you got Outlook Anywhere enabled on your CAS servers?

Outlook 2007/2010 with exchange 2007/2010 and Outlook Anywhere enabled on the CAS servers, Outlook Anywhere on the clients will get enabled automatically due to Autodiscover and OA policy being forced to client. you can turned it off using GPO and various different ways...however, it's either on or off and configuring for iunternal and extenal users can be tricky...at leats that's what Microsoft support have told me.

Check the Outlook 2010 profile and check the OA configuration on the clients. I have had a few problems with this in the past. From what you are describing it sounds like you have the same issue. I could be wrong.

Could you get the client trace for the ones that are not working?

Hope that helps.

BTW, if you turn off OA on the clients manually (with Outlook 2007/2010) it will turn itself back on when you restart outlook or when the next OA policy get pushed to the client (i think every 15 minutes)...painful!!! :)

First indication is this right here:

06/12/2012 12:45:20.337[5036][H]: A setting on computer that controls the size of Outlook data files may affect the operation of the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In. Unable to exempt PST's from PSTDisableGrow, make sure that 'PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides' registry key has been set properly.

To add to Alex's comments above, you also get the following from your client trace:

06/12/2012 12:45:31.311[5036][H]: CShortcutItem::Display...Return Last Failed error: 0x80070005
06/12/2012 12:45:31.311[5036][L]: ~CShortcutItem::Display: 0x80070005

Which is also explained here:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH156088

Which is back to Alex's point above.

Hope this helps.
