New to EV, EV 9.2 and Exchange 2010, trying to come up with a workflow for when to archive\shortcut messages. we are looking at 6 months. question is, what happens with users email that he recieves today and deletes tomorrow, does it never get archived? Also does EV archive items in the deleted folder?
Thanks
Pat

If you are journaling everyone, you could also have a look at this

Basically what it does is allow users to be able to search the journal archive for their own messages, both sent and received including ones they deleted.

You can control whether EV archives deleted items via the Archiving Policy in the Advanced tab.
If an item is received today, deleted tomorrow before the archiving schedule can run then EV will not have a copy of it, for that you would need Enterprise Vault Journaling so that you journal users or an exchange server which gets a copy of each item sent/received in your environment.
The other option is you could archive tombstoned items, meaning anything in your exchange dumpster, which a lot of companies do not utilize due to the overhead it brings, but even if it was received today, deleted tomorrow, it would be deleted out of the exchange dumpster most likely in a further 14 days so EV still could not archive it

Thanks for the reponse, we are journaling, my goal here is to minimize the user having to call the help desk to retrieve a deleted item, we do have 14 days on deleted items,
