EV10 FSA archive & Create shortcut

Hi,

We are archiving file servers using EV10 FSA,

Policy set to remove safety copies after backup.

Replicated Centera Vault stores - Scan partition every 60 minute is set and last scan result of '0' items for secured items, unsecured items, total items.

Initial archive backlog is not finished yet for one file servers, we don't have any _FINAL report yet.

Lot of items been archived every day, however no new shortcuts has been created, report below,

Shortcut Creation
Total number of files matching a 'Create Shortcuts Immediately' rule:    0
Total number of files matching a 'Create Shortcuts Later' rule:             0
Total number of files matching a 'None. Archive and Delete File' rule:      0

Is that normal? Shortcuts going to be created after initial backlog archive?

Many Thanks

You are seeing normal behaviour. With a policy set to remove safety copies after backup, mean the shortcuts will not be created until a) the file is secure in the archive and b) we hit that file on the file server again. We're not going to see that file again until the intial run is completed and then we start processing the volume from the start on the next run. You've called out that you are on your initial run and that we are still processing the backlog, so all sounds normal.

If you want to accelerate the shortcut processing, you could run FSARunNow.exe with the 'ShortcutsOnly' flag from the command line. This will go and create shortcuts for those files already archived and secured. (note that to see the full options for FSARunNow, go to the command line and do FSARunNow /?, depending on the version you have, the docs do not list all options).
