Hi Guys,
Just exploring EV11 in my lab environment.
I have upgraded the Search and I'm very impressed with the improvements.
However, I have an Event Error ID: 41521 - "Enterprise Vault Search cannot perform certain Operations". It keeps appearing every 15 minutes.
I have tested the Search and everything seems to be working. It's a very vague error warning as well.
Would be nice to get more clarity on this or is it a bug?
Cheers
Chay

Could you browse to the below location and check EVSearchClientLog for detailed error message.
C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Enterprise Vault\Search\

Hi Amol,
Thanks for getting back so quickly.
Please find the files attached

Do you see any Directory Service related events in the Windows Event Viewer?
Enterprise Vault Search will log above event if you try to browse any archive while the Directory service
is in stopped state.

Nope, no other event ids

What plugins are they talking about? I don't know what the archive identifier relates to, either...

As per the log, plugins are missing for Domino Journal and SMTP Archive type but this has
nothing to do with the event logged in the Windows Event Viewer.

It looks like a false alert to me. I don't know if this is a bug?

If there are multiple EVSearchClient log files than could you post the ones which are
matching with the timestamp of the error event.

These are all the logs I have. Any marked today match up to the event log events. None of them seem to give away anything.

I have restarted the Server and the events seems to have stopped.
I don't know what it was that triggered it off. All functions were clearly working fine, both from the EV server and from a client with a couple of test users.
Some customers don't have the luxury of being able to restart the server on a whim, so it's quite worrying that it can just appear out of nowhere.
When I restarted, however, I seen the attached event stating that the net.tcp listener started - although I'm sure this would have been running before the restart, so I'm not sure that this is the reason why it's fixed.

Very odd .. I wonder if it will reappear?

It appears that it is triggered after a 41459 Storage Queue Broker error stating:
There was a SQL error, as follows:
Error Reference: Fetch next batch of Savesets to archive
SQL Server: [SQL SERVER}
Database Name: [Vault Store db]
Extended SQL error information:
Error number: 1
Message: A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
LineNumber: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Procedure:
This happens once but all features and functions appear to be working fine.
Then the EV Search errors appear every 15minutes after that.
I don't know what's triggering it, if it's a lost connection etc... but if it is, surely it should stop complaining once it has been reconnected?

Hello,
Had the same problem too. Needed to restart the storage service (from the EV console) and the IIS.
Then, all errors were gone :)
Hope it helps

How long did this solve it for?
Did you have Storage Queue errors too?

Chay,
The customer shutted down the SQL server for maintenance.
This, without taking care of the EV.
Once I restarted IIS and Storage Service all errors were gone.
