Evault 9.0.1 and Exchange 2010

I have Evault 9.0.1 on Windows 2003 SP2 running Outlook 2003. I just installed Exchange 2010 in my environemnt but have no mailboxes on it yet, I will be doing that in a week or less. Current Exchange Server is Exchange 2003.

1. What do I have to do in Evault to have it start archiving emails on Exchange 2010?

2. Do I have to upgrade Outlook to 2007? If so, are there specific instructions I have to know regarding updating from Outlook 2003-2007? Actually I might just uninstall 2003 and install 2007.

All clients in the company are using Outlook 2007.

Anything else would be helpful.

Thanks!!

There is the document referenced in my first post and there is also the Installing and Configure guide that is part of the EV documentation http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC2845

and

the Setting Up Exchange Server Archiving document. http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC2853

The rest of the docs can be found here, Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH140748

I do always recommend working with an EV Partner, nothing can replace having an experienced hand guide you through the process. :)

Hey ya,

Have you seen this?  It has a couple scenarios in it that you may find helpful.

How to configure EV 9 with Exchange 2010

According to Symantec Tech Support they said that I need to make registry changes as outlined here

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952295

Looking at the article though, is it saying that this is if someone is going to send to over 2048 recipients or attachments? Thats not gonna happen in this environment, so if thats what it means I may be able to skip this?

Also, is this something that has to be pushed out to all clients using Outlook 2007 in the environment? (GPO I'm assuming).

Here's what the KB article says in short:

"Note The default value for the AttachmentMax registry entry is 2048 attachments. The default value for the RecipientMax registry entry is 2048 recipients. If you set these registry entries to larger values, it can cause long delays when you try to open .msg files that have lots of recipients or attachments. This is expected and is the reason the original limit was established.

  1. Exit Outlook 2007.
  2. Start Registry Editor.
    • In Windows Vista, click Start
      Collapse this imageExpand this image

, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
    • If you do not use policies, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
    • If you use policies, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type AttachmentMax, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click AttachmentMax, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type a value, and then click OK.
  7. Repeat steps c through g to add the RecipientMax registry entry.
  8. Exit Registry Editor.

Even though you think it is unlikely I would still set the reg keys on the EV Server as directed by support.  It could save you headache in the future.

Tony,

Is there a document that will guide us through the install process?
