We're seeing a lot of these errors recently.
A RetrieveMarkedItems request has failed. Not all of the messages could be returned to a shortcut. These messages will remain as pending retrieval in the users mailbox.
Error: <0x80040605>
Was looking at the link https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000022120 but that doesn't sem to be the issue. We are using EV 12.0.1.
Can anyone advise what the cause may be?

Hello, there error seems to indicate an issue with MAPI to the mailbox. A quick, but dirty solution attempt would be to restart the taskcontroller. If that does not work, restart all of the services (restart admin service restarts others too)
Also perform a search on the forum for NSPI, and see if that might be an issue in your environment.

The error 0x80040605 is a MAPI error code meaning "MAPI_E_NOT_INITIALIZED". This is almost certainly related to Outlook (the copy on the EV server, not the client) rather than an EV configuration.
There are a few old support cases where people had this issue (though nothing recent). Based on those, I would try the following:

Thanks ended up restarting the Admin service and it's cleared the errors. System mailbox openes without any issues and Outlook is 2013 but not SP1 Guess that should be ok?

Outlook 2013 OR and SP1 are both supported with EV12
