Morning Team,

I need some assistance, does anyone know what will happen if in Exchange 2003 we created a Recovery Storage Group and move all the mailboxes to this group, create a new mailbox store and import the mailboxes to this store. What will happen to the existing mail archives will they still be accessed will there be corruption in the vault store? or is there a proceedure that is reuired to be done before or after? to ensure a seemless exercise. Currently we are experiencing issues with our Exchange mailbox store where it is showing corruption and we wanted to try this fix with the creation of the Recovery Storage Group.

thanking you in advance.

Are the MailboxGUIDS and LegacyExchangeDN looking to be the same or different? If they are preserved then nothing will happen, EV will just relink the "new" mailbox to the existing archive, if they are completely different then enterprise vault will take them as new exchange mailboxes and depending on how you have your provisioning set up will automatically create new duplicate archives Would suggest finding out how the legacyDN and the GUID would he affected and read up on the SynchInMigrationMode registry key If they will be completely dfferent then my suggestion is disable the old mailbox, move to the recovery group then manually enable the mailbox at which point you can tell it to use an existing archive and then choose it's rightful archive

Take a look at : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126  You can't import the existing mailboxes in to the RSG.

However you can mount/restore a backup of the current live database (or one from some time ago).
