Last night during an FSA archiving run the permissions on all the folders that had archive points were stripped. All the inherited permissions were removed from the folders. Has anyone seen this before and what might have caused it.
EV9sp2/Win8 fileserver Win2003
Explict permissions setting to "ignore". Nothing in the logs or reports showing anything amiss.

oh well there you go then! put the permissions back!! :)
All joking aside, it sounds like it was most likely done manually, most folders inherit the permissions, so if you strip the root and then tell it to apply down the chain, everything gets affected

if you do a sync, do the permissions come back?
I take it you didn't do any permissions zaps at all?
Also do you have the registry keys for share permissions set?
HKLM\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\
SynchroniseFSASharePermissions (DWORD)
1 Perform share permission synchronization (default)
0 Perform folder root archive point folder permission synchronization.

The permissions were stripped from the file folders, not the archives...

EV wouldn't touch anything NTFS wise, it will only sync whatever is there to the relevant archives. Agree with JW2, some(body/thing) must have done something to remove them.
