Flagged for Follow up - how not to achive these items

First a question - when there's a flag on an item and it's archived, then the flag is removed, does it "rearchive" - i have a customer who is saying that the flag remains and won't update when the task is item is marked as completed.

What version of EV? 

By default EV won't archive items with pending reminders, what do you have set in the Mailbox policy on the Advanced tab for Do not archive pending reminders?

Controls whether Enterprise Vault archives items that have pending reminders.
■    Off. Items that have pending reminders are archived.

■    On (default). Items that have pending reminders within the next five years are not archived.

You can also go to the properties of the message and check the "do not archive"'checkbox

Generally speaking, once an item is archived it lives and dies in the archive. EV is not able to update the status flag on an item.
