Hi All,

I am trying to add a CIFS share in the index location but unluckily i am unable to do so just wanted to check with you guys if that is actually possible does EV supports writing index data to CIFS share.

I have EV 9.0.2 and EV 10.0.4 2 diffrent EV site and i am planning to use HNAS CIFS to write index data.

Please suggest.

When you add the new index location, just backspace over the drive that EV populates the location field with and type your \\server\share location.

But it should be stated that indexes on shares may not work very well.  Even if you have fast disks on the share, the networking overhead can be a problem.  I've tested the same storage (same physical array) using a CIFS share and iSCSI volumes and the iSCSI volumes work much better.

Here's a good whitepaper on EV indexing best practices; see pages 5 and 6:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC4250

Can you not just use assigned drive letter and use mount points?
