Index Volume Recommended Free Space?

Elio_C

Hi,

I have a vague memory that index volumes should have 10% free space but I cannot find any documentation on this. The reason I ask is that I have 2TB index volumes and keeping 200GB free seems excessive.

Is anyone aware of any documentation or have any recommendations?

Thank you.

Hello EC.

The 10% applies to the Vault Store Partitions as best practice. Necessary for extracting CAB-files (if used).

For indexes (provided you are on EV10 or higher), in your environment having about 5% should be sufficient. In those versions of EV, closing an index prevents new data being added, whereas in the older versions existing indexes kept being updated. I don't recall if there is a specific requirement, but having 100GB free should be enough on your Index locations.
