Index for file placeholders

Hi, 

we are using EV for archiving file servers with placeholder option. Users don't have an option of searching files vie EV serach. What happens in our case if indexing volumes are deleted or lost? Can users still access files via placeholders?

Hi Bothan,

Yes indexing is separate to archiving really. Yes they occur together automatically at the same time ish but they are mutually exclusive. So from a retrieval perspective this has absolutely nothing to do with indexes and so even if you delete every single index volume that you have you should still have the ability to retrieve from placeholders.
