Migrating EV 8 FSA to another server

Hi.

I have a client that has EV8 SP3 on Windows 2003 server for FSA (stand alone not clustered). The client wants to migrate to EV 9 on another windows 2003 server (as he is running out of space on his current EV server) and decommision the current EV server.

What is the best steps to do this?

I recommend that you install the new server as Windows 2008 64Bit.

Perform a data only DR of EV to the new server

Perform the upgrade of EV to version 9 on the new server

Currently the customer is only licensed for Windows 2003. How would I preform the steps for a data only DR?

Sure it seems fine, but do follow the guide, it is tried and tested. And it has clear steps and screenshots.

Is "failover in building blocks configuration" on page 335 the "data only DR" that ye speak about?

So would these be the best steps to follow...

Currently the customer has EV 8 and SQL colocated on Windows 2003. The data store is attached to the EV server via san lun.They want to move SQL to an new Server and EV to an new server and upgrade EV to the most recent version.

How do these steps look?

1. move databases to new sql server and configure current ev server for new database location

2. build new EV server with same version as current EV server

3. attach luns to new server with same names

4. perform dr to new server

5. uninstall old server
