Move Archive operation is failing

This is a solution post referencing EV8sp4 with applied hotfixes.,

We recently had mailbox Archives that we were moving from one Archive site to another that were consistently failing with an error description of Catastrophic Failure.

We applied ALL the corrected hotfixes for the Move Archive operation.

Nothing corrected the issue.

We found that these mailboxes ALL had archived items (email with the archived icon) in the Mailbox ROOT, and these items were failing during the move operation.

Once these items were either moved and updated to a natural folder (invox/sent items, etc) or deleted from the Archive, the Move Archive operation worked fine.

How did you figure out the items were in the root?

Did you ask your users to fix it, or did you do this?
