Restoring The archived Emails

Hi All,

I had thi

s discussion opend few weeks ago:

There are about 12 users leaving the company and need their emails as a PST. I put them in a 0 hour policy so all the emails are getting archived staright away. This Thursday would be the last day and we will be disabling the accounts on Thursday evening.

Few of the users have about 5Gb of the archived size.

Would you please tell me what is the best idea to restore the emails till Thirsday in 1 PST file.

If I restoer today, then there will be one more pst file from today till thursday, or is there any other solution I am missing?

 

Please guide me here with the best soultion to go.

Sohail,

When you export on the Archive level in the vault admin console, you can have the option to export in a time range.

Also, take a look at a free tool we released, might help you in the future:
http://www.quadrotech-it.com/products/evtools/free/archive-leavers/

To export to a PST

Right click Archives in the left navigation pane of the Vault Admin console.

When you export on the Archive level in the vault admin console, you can have the option to export in a time range.

To export to a PST

Right click Archives in the left navigation pane of the Vault Admin console.

Where is the export on the Archive level in the vault admin console?

I can see users but if i right click to them I can only see box with the properties nothing else.

 

Could you please advise?

and restore as pst, do you think this would be the best option.

Once account disables they comes under 0 hour policy so all the emails been archived already.

Yes, exporting to a PST would be the best option since the uses need to take the mail with them.

Hi Guys,

 

I am still unable to restore the archives, all the reqired users are under the o day policy, however theri emails are still not archiving.

I think its due to backups. I am using Backup Exec 2010, and the backup job is been running since last three days and on 3rd day today its on verifying mode now.

The groups are still in Backup mode.

is there any thing I can to archive manually or by force?

any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

You would have to stop the back up and do a run now archive run, but it sounds like you need to sort out your BE issue.

backup mode wouldnt stop you restoring to a PST unless you are telling the export to delete the items from the archive

I think he means the server has been in backup mode so the mailbox has not been archived with the 0 day policy.

So if I pause the backup job, clear back mode and do do a run now archive run as Tony advised, will it be fine?

Yes, you could do that to get these mailboxes archived.

But afterwards I HIGHLY recommend sorting out that back up issue.

I did this but the emails are still not doing the archive. I think its been over an hour since run the archive now.

any thoughts on this

Did you do a run now on just the mailbox you wanted archived? 

Did you run provisioning and synchronization before you did the run now? 

Are you looking in the mailbox or the archive?

Hi Tony,

Thank you for your advise, just wanted to let you its working now, it was only I had wait couple of you r for for the emails due to backup not been done.

One more quick question on this, when exporting as pst, does EV also export contacts and calander or what is the best way to export them as well?

If it is in the archive it will be exported.

but its only exporting the calander till the date I disabled the account , nothing for the future.

However there were limited users so I exported a seprate PST through outllok.
