When a user deletes a shortcut in their mailbox it does not delete the archived item in EV.
(Checked the desktop policy, it has configured following on the option tab: Outlook Behavior, Shortcut Deletion: Both deleted.
I must be missing something, please help.
We found out about this issue when restoring all items back in the mailbox.

Hello,
This can have several reasons.
1 - does the retention-category allow deletions? sometimes the retention category does not allow retention
2 - has the index been updated after the delete? Sometimes it takes a while for the item to be deleted from the index
which EV-version?
Events in the eventlog?

Thanks for your response.
1) Yes, category does allow deletetion, already checked that.
2) Not sure, will to do some more investigation about this.
EV is 10.2
No specific about this issue, but I don't know when the user had deleted the shortcuts.

You might also want to check on the properties of the archive the "deleted items" tab. I believe I have seen somewhere an forum or KB which describer an issue where items are in there (i.e. waiting to be definitely removed from the archive) are restored to the original mailbox too. I'll try to find the doc/entry

Have had two users with this issue. Can the setting "Delete expired items from this archive automatically" be wrong in this case (not abled) ?

Make sure you've checked the 'users can delete items....' on the Archive Settings tab on the site properties page.

Hi ZeRoC00L,
Have you checked at the Enterprise Vault Site properties > Archive Settings tab that the option "Users can delete items from their archives" is enabled?

Yes, site properties "Users can delete items from their archived" is enabled. !

yes
You can delete archived mail, but you have wait for indexing update.

How long does that take ?
Just rebuild an index for one small mailbox, but I am still able to find the deleted items in my archive.

Is there a process to check the archive and compare to shortcuts ?
(I know you can re-create shortcuts, but I would like to delete archived items if there is no shortcut).

@ZeroCool, no there is no way to do that unfortunately.
