Stubs not being removed

Hi,

We are having an issue with stubs not being removed from generic mailboxes. We have a policy that sets the stub retention to 18 months but there are some mailboxes that have still got stubs within from 2007. The emails in the mailbox have been vaulted and are being picked up in the provisioning group butit does not seem to be picking up the policy to remove the stubs. The policy is also then default policy and is targetting the relevant provisioning group.

Pls can anyone suggest what the problem is or how i can check for erros.

Thanks

P

Do you have offline vault enabled for the users ? Also check that you have Enabled the use of Archive Explorer within the Desktop policy.

Edit @ If you select Process Vault Stores: Never on the Storage Expiry tab, Shortcut Deletion does not remove shortcuts to items whose Retention Period has expired, because those items remain in the archives.

Information on your environment would help us in getting you the correct information for your scenario. IF you are using Microsoft Exchange (only config I am familiar with), then shortcut deletion is handled via the Exchange Archiving Task. This task is responsible for deleting old shortcuts, deleting shortcuts to items that have been deleted by storage expiry, and deleting orphaned shortcuts if so configured. Double check that your Archiving task is scheduled to run properly. You can also perform a "Run Now" on the task to target an individual mailbox while your are troubleshooting this issue.
