VAC - search archives - asks for credentials - is this expected ?

Hi

Once the credentials are added we're no longer prompted until we close the VAC and re open

I can browse to http://evserver01/enterprisevault/searcho2k.asp  without being prompted for credentials

This has happened on the last few customer sites which i've installed EV so it may be a missed step etc

Could you grab a dtrace of mmc and w3wp?

The clue is here:
SC-Win32-SubStatus = 2148074254
This translates to: SEC_E_NO_CREDENTIALS

This means no credentials are being passed, what i believe is happening is that when you browse to http://EVSERVER01// it works because EVSERVER01 is in your Trusted Sites or Intranet sites list BUT when you click Search Archives in the VAC its going to http://actualMachineName/ which is NOT in the trusted sites list

So can you do this for us please?
1. Open the VAC and go to your Journal archive, right click and hit Search Archive
2. When it opens, hit the Browser Search button in the top left hand corner
3. It will then open Browser Search in a new IE window
4. When it opens, note the URL thats given, it might say http://yourMachineName/EnterpriseVault/Search.asp
5. In internet explorer then go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security (Tab)
6. Select "Local Intranet" and then click the Sites button
7. Make sure that "yourMachineName" is listed as an intranet site

This machine name would also be the one listed when it prompts you for credentials

i added the full path i.e. http://evserver01.domain.com to the local intranet and it works fully now
