Vault 2007, no Vault Server Cache configured

James_Slack

Just running through V8 deployment scanner and thought I would double check the AV settings on my Vault server.

I stumbled across the "Enterprise Vault Server Cache Location" section, which says in the VAC you right click - properties on your EV server, which I did, then look under the cache tab... which is blank?!

Question: Does this mean we are not using cache, or has it fallen back on some default location and if so, how do i find it?

Many thanks - James

The EV Vault Cache location is not set by default.  You'll need to set it to a location where there is sufficient storage IAW the admin guide.

Can you point me in the right direction of the section in the manual please?

I search for "cache" and the section that comes up with "About Vault Cache - The Enterprise Vault extensions for Lotus Notes can maintain a personal vault cache..."

As the setting mentioned in the AV report is configured as "Enterprise Vault Server Cache Location" I am guessing that this is something different and a server cache and not a Lotus Notes client cache.

Can someone confirm?

Vault Cache is enabled via the Exchange Desktop Policy.

This is covered in Chapter 5 of the Setting Up Exchange Server ARchiving guide.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC2853

If you intend to use Vault Cache for Exchange then you will have to specify a directory location for Vault Cache to use for temporary file storage.
