We are deploying Enterprise Vault across our company, and have chosen to go down the route of Vault Cache and Virtual Vault.
No shortcuts are being used, but users just see their archive content, and any shared archives as Vaults within Outlook.
All is working well, apart from we have a few users who are not enabled for archiving themselves, but need access to archives from shares mailboxes.
i.e. the user has been granted permissions to a mailbox archive, but they do not have an archive associated with their primary mailbox.
Is there any way to get this setup to work? Currently the Outlook EV plugin does not detect a primary mailbox, so no sync options are available.
ideally we would like this to work, without having to enable archiving for these users.

As a possible workaround you could enable these users with a different policy (via provisioning them differently). The policy could be archive everything 999 years old. This way they WILL have an archive ...

they can also access the shared archive via Archive Explorer or the Search page. very soon with EV11 there will be a much enhanced experience for archive access that will greatly help you with this scenario.
