So I was informed today by one of my storage admins that they are almost continually adding new LUNs for VMware. And they are not always quick to pass along the information to the backup team.
So I was wondering - does anyone currently simply automatically run a scan on a regular basis (via cron) on their appliance? If so... what is the command to do so? I presume it's some sort of Linux FC scan command. Or is there a Veritas command to run the scan?
TIA

Hi,
Have you tried running "rescan-scsi-bus.sh" ?
To run above command you must have "sg3_utils" package installed on RHEL.

The commands to scan are built into the menus. On my 2.6 box it's under Manage / FibreChannel.
As for command line, it's scripts, not a single command. So it's not that clean. Also, some of them will cause active backups to fail if executed during a backup...

I believe that this is going to be the way to go - I am going to work with my storage team to test this out with a new datastore...
