Kernel or openssl update query

hello
Kernel or openssl update query

Appliance 5250 NetBackup 9.1 is running, but the OS version is Linux 7.9. Is a security patch possible if a security vulnerability occurs in the current 7.9 kernel version?
If there is a security vulnerability in OpenSSL, can I apply the security patch?
Can I apply the security patch using a file downloaded from a place other than Veritas support?
If so, will there be any problem with the backup??

Hi @joonkoki

Only apply updates security or otherwise from Veritas - the appliance OS is based on RHEL 7.9, but is modified.

If you need to find security alert, either refer to the security page https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/security or review available patches/EEBs from the relevant download section for your appliance OS (4.1).

If you attempt to install a external patch, it is likely you will break something in the appliance.
