I'm very pleased to announce that the next Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 and Release Update for NetBackup 52x0 Appliances is now available!

NetBackup 7.5.0.4 is the fourth maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5.  It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.3. In addition, this release contains an additional 315 fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.4 to over 700!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects.

The simultaneously released NetBackup 5200/5220 Appliances 2.5.1 Release Update is the equivalent Appliance patch release to NetBackup 7.5.0.4.

The significant content of NetBackup 7.5.0.4 is:

  • No new features in 7.5.0.4.  However, some features that were delivered in previous maintenance releases are included:
    • Solaris 11 master server, Bare Metal Restore server and OpsCenter Managed Server support – delivered in 7.5.0.3
    • NetBackup for VMware on SLES – delivered in 7.5.0.2
    • PureDisk seeding utility – delivered in 7.5.0.2
    • Client Direct Whole Image Mode – delivered in 7.1.0.4
    • Multi-process nbostpxy for Client Dedupe – delivered in 7.1.0.4
  • Fixes included in EVERY publicly available 7.5.0.3 hotfix are included in 7.5.0.4
  • Other miscellaneous fixes across NetBackup which were not publicly released

Additional content applicable to Appliances 2.5.1 is:

  • Improved agent for proactive support
  • Support for OST 3rd party plug-ins

Information about 2.5.1 is available here:

Is the EEB a recommended patch for all 5220 users, or only required if the problem is being experienced ?  I have updated 2 x 5220 recently with 251b and all appears well - I don't want to 'upset' things if this is not required......

AJ,

This is the TechNote describing the issue that EEB fixes (although it doesn't mention Appliances, only NetBackup, but it's the same issue):

The spoold process crashes during rebasing.
 http://symantec.com/docs/TECH199067

If you're not seeing the symptoms (specifically, the backup failures described in the TechNote), I would recommend you not install the EEB.

"Don't fix what ain't broken" wink

Hello, downloaded 2.5.1b and joined the .rpm-patch, but are getting the Checksums :   c104f6ac56737c63f1cbd5cb4b0f0710      dd9961475737724399b7eb46260ead3acf4a7264

This differ from what found in the Technote TECH199726:  MD5:  aea499ed4e0222181a95869034636e79  and  SHA1: 3382adffd6dea7f0a2450e78003ab5a40d883de0

Have asked support about this, but not answer yet....

We do not want to crash our production systems if there were anything wrong with the patch.

Have patched our test/demo-appliance with this files, installed and seem to run OK.

Further, a Manage > software > List Version shows

2.5.1 not 2.5.1b as the TECH199726 shows in Step 14. (?)

Anyone seen this?

Got confirmation from support that patch is ok, even still checksum differs from TECH199726

I was at 2.5 before I did this upgrade, upgraded, and now >Software>List Version :

Appliance Version: 2.5.1
NetBackup Version: 7.5.0.4
Build Date: 20121114

Build : 2.5.1b : 20121114 - So should be ok.

Can we get a reboot of the downloads web server? It gives me 25 MB and then dies every time.
