Hello All,

We have recently introduced a new setup of 5230Appliance in our environment and now in the process of setting up backup clients on it. There are a Set of servers whose data is exceeding TB,s and we are planning to set these servers as SAN Media Servers.

Is this possible ? Any pointers/link that I can reference.

You would probably want those clients to be Enterprise Clients using Fibre transport

For that your appliance needs to be a model D or E as these have FT ports available

If you have one of those mdoels then you will have three fibre cards on the right hand side as you look at the back

The top two cards have FT ports available on the right hand side

You need to see the SAN Client Guide for more information along with the Appliance Admin Guide

Your other alternative would be to go for the 10Gig eth ports in your appliance and clients.   If you want to get past the 1 GB speed limit.
