6.5.3 NB_update.install gunzip/tar directory cksum error for RS6000 unexpected end of file

Tania

Attempting to apply AIX RS600 v6.5.3 and CLT update keeps on failing with the following error. I have replaced both tar and gunzip with earlier AIX ML versions (now AIX 5.3 ML8 SP3) and I'm using the latest version of NB_update.install.

Any ideas?

gunzip: /home/admin/netbackup/upgrade_6.5.3/master_client_java/VrtsNB_CLT_6.5.3.RS6000.tar.Z: unexpected end of file

J.Hinchcliffe, thanks for your quick response.

Well, tried the gzip, gunzip, uncompress and still got the same results.

It's interesting because I didn't have the problem with any of the other Vrts files with the tar.Z.

Support ended up tarring up /usr/openv/netbackup/client/RS6000/AIX5 from a v6.5.3 and this then allowed me to upgrade the remote clients.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Have a great holiday.

I think I had the same issue with 6.5.2a and if I remeber correctly I had to unzip with winzip before I could do anything with them.

you might also just try uncompress. as compress also adds a Z to the end of the file.

It's nice to see that ftp and tar are still in use. I have done many client installs by simply creating a tar file at /usr/openv, placing the tarfile on the new client and extracting it, changing the client name in the bp.conf and adding the /etc/services and the inet.d entries.
