Which information are saved in which logs?

There is a document where to find all info about logs?

There are two main types, unified and legacy.
This gives you an idea:
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH47372
The Troubleshooting Guide covers most things:

A quick guide to unified logging can be found here:

To much to go into really to get everything into one thread
Hope this helps

One more thing:

Where I found all info for a restore job? what was restored and what not?

I have try bptm, bpbrm, bprd but not found all information.

On the Master can I see all this file that was not restored? or just on the client into bpbkar?

I have did a 1 TB daten restore (1.200.000 file) and for one of them  "more than 10 files were not restored, remaining ones are shown in the progress log."

Thanks.

On the client create the netbackup\logs\tar\ directory

It will log the information there

The bpcd directory on the client will also hold information in relation to its communication during the restore

Hope this helps

Thanks Mark for reply.

Now a have another problem.

On the client the LOGs Directory is empty.

Any another solution? On the Master some logs?

Thanks.

If you just create the folders needed, bpcd and tar, it will start logging to them

But the restore process is finished.

On the server where you ran the BAR GUI, you would have the restore progress logs in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<user name>. This is the same log as in the GUI. On the client, tar would reveal more information, but you would have to create the directory in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/tar or <install path>/Veritas/NetBackup/logs/tar.

If you did the restore from the client then all you can get is what is in the user ops folders, if from the Master or Media it will be in the user ops on that server Addition information can only be obtained from the tar log on the client but if that did not exist then you can't get any more info than from the user ops folder - and that is pretty much what you see in the details tab of the job in activity monitor Hope this helps

Thanks AAlmroth,

You save my live :). I have found this "/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<user name>" and all info are there.

I have found 150.000 File that ware not restored :).

Have a nice weekend.

Looks like you can close this thread then and mark a solution - just need to decide which one actually answers your original question

Glad we could all help

I realize that I'm late to this party!

Please read through the logging section of the Troubleshooting Guide. You will see that legacy logs are not enabled by default. You need to create the relevant folders.

Appendix A in the Troubleshooting Guide will also help you to understand the process flow and which log folders (linked to the processes) to create on master, media and client.
