Active Directory Server Issue

Hey guys,

I have an issue with an AD Server backup.

OS = Windows Server 2012 R2

Client = 7.7.1

Policy definition;

MS-Windows, Granular On, Accelerator On, System State selected. Client services configured with an Enterprise Admins account. Error is related to networking however I have checked layer 1/2 but pretty sure its all ok.

03/15/2016 10:36:42 - Error bpbrm (pid=95889) socket read failed: errno = 104 - Connection reset by peer
03/15/2016 10:36:42 - Error bptm (pid=95970) system call failed - Connection reset by peer (at child.c.1307)
03/15/2016 10:36:43 - Error bptm (pid=95970) unable to perform read from client socket, connection may have been broken
03/15/2016 10:36:43 - Error bptm (pid=95948) media manager terminated by parent process
03/15/2016 10:36:46 - Info server.company.com (pid=95948) StorageServer=PureDisk:server.company.com; Report=PDDO Stats (multi-threaded stream used) for (server.company.com): scanned: 1904165 KB, CR sent: 9892 KB, CR sent over FC: 0 KB, dedup: 99.5%, cache disabled
03/15/2016 10:36:47 - Error bpbrm (pid=95889) could not send server status message
03/15/2016 10:36:48 - Info bpbkar (pid=4648) done. status: 13: file read failed
03/15/2016 10:36:48 - end writing; write time: 0:06:31
file read failed  (13)

It is possibly a firewall port but I have checked the main ones, and name resolution with bpclntcmd is all good for forward and reverse. VSS Writers seems all good, shadow copies are all ok, access to server should all be good from a firewall perspective however from what I seen in the past is that certain connections are cut if there are no TCP keep-alives sent/received crossing a firewall, could ths be the case?

What else could I possibly check?

Hello,

what about single file backup, is it working?

I also think that Accelerator is not supported for System_State backup, respectively it has no obvious sense here because System_State size is of several GB size only.

Oh and I forgot to add, its the only server I have installed the NBU Client on and it got a nbcheck.exe error. I tried my best to investigate, but ran it with an Enterprise Admins account, "Run as admin" enabled, and User Account Control disabled. So I think there may be a problem with the server itself, but trying to determine what could be causing a problem.

Re the single file, it seems to backup however I get this in the logs;

Error bpbrm (pid=210638) cannot start nbfsd on media01.company.com

Thanks!

Yes you need to install/configure NFS on the media server and client.

Refer to Admin Guide, Granular Recovery topic.

I have installed client for NFS.

However I think this is a deeper problem I am facing; Why when installing the the netbackup client on the domain controller do I get a nbucheck.exe error? I suspect there may be some issues on the server but cant find what.

I have interrogated the event viewer, checked the logs, tried different stuff with granular/snapshot etc and cant seem to find a common denominator.

Thank you for the ideas though Michal

***EDIT***

Here is the logs when I try install the client on the AD DC thats giving issues; at this point is when the nbcheck.exe pops an error

03-16-2016,12:52:55 :  Waiting for command: nbcheck.exe
03-16-2016,15:07:38 :  Command returned status 3221225477.
03-16-2016,15:07:38 :  Finished with NBCheck custom action.

I have also fully disabled UAC on the system from the registry so it cant be that causing issues, disabled the AV so it cant be that, tested ports between the servers and client.... I am really running out of options how to correct this one. I may just start backing up member DC at this rate.

Appreciate the help peeps, hope I have provided enough info
