Hi All,
I have to set the backup for a particular client via separate backup lan.
i should i go : ihv confiured the backup policy whick include _bk name for that client.
I can not ping that client from media server and from master.
(I am already having one client which is having successful backup over backup lan ; can ping that client from media srever but not from master)
whats happening?
Thanks,
Giri

Correct DNS or hosts file entry for client_bk?

I can not ping that client from media server and from master.
Add hosts entry for client on master and media and hosts entries for master and media server on client.
First check that you can ping IP addresses. If that does not work, get hold of your networking team....

First Follow instruction from Andy and Marrianne.
try this (master):
/usr/openv/veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -hn client_bk
/usr/openv/veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -ip IP_ADDR
and try this (Mieda):
/usr/openv/veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -hn client_bk
/usr/openv/veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -ip IP_ADDR
and finally on client:
veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -hn master
veritas/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -ip master_IP

try rebooting end client if that helps
make sure ports are allowed in bi-direction between master, media and client
sync up with network team to verify where connection is halted
do netstat -a and check connection status
prior to rebooting system. check for PBX service. restart this and check PBX is working f9
