SLP creates another copy for the image, not another image. This image will still have the same image id as recorded in your DR file. Recovery from MSDP or any other OST device like Advanced Disk or Data Domain will be no different utilising nbcatsync and explained in this technote:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH173220

My first copy is going to tape and the second copy to Disk (Appliance).

My question is whether my DR file shows the disk copy information as like below ? I believe it wont. It will show only the first copy information. If so how do i track below information from DR file. ?

the DR file contains information about the image and does not track all its copies, however the latter is not required for recovery as once you run the nbcatsync (read help about this utility btw) against the DR file you'll get the image to recover from, albeit from a different source.

Please show us your DR-file and not the one in the TN.

Never a good idea to do catalog backup to MSDP.

Just too many steps before you can start with restore in DR scenario - as per TECH173220.

To recover NBU catalog from a different copy, follow this TN:

How to recover the NetBackup catalog from a non-primary copy of the catalog backup
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH125784

How can you set up a Catalog (Netbackup 7.5)  to run triggered by last job completion? This could be after a set amount of time to initiitate this process.

Hi

I have created the SLP for catalog backup,in that first copy is going to tape and second copy in Advanced disk in the backup server that comes from EMC storage. And i am getting DR files in email each time when the backup and duplicate completes. Hope it is safe.

 Hope it is safe.

Why not share your DR-file with us as per my previous request?

Rather make sure, not merely  Hope it is safe.....

Your DR file shows both copies - tape and disk.

Catalog recovery will try to restore from 1st copy. If you want to restore from 2nd copy, you need to use bprecover command with '-copy 2'.

To get back to your original question:

Which is the best way to create catalog backup 2 copies. SLP or Multiple copies ?

Riaan's answer is the best:

SLP because an SLP will keep trying if its fails the first, tenth, or twentieth time :)

One more question, My SLP id scheduled, incase it fail in its first attempt, when it will retriger ? Only as per teh schedule next day or immediatly ?

SLP retries is documented in NBU Admin Guide.

If you have configured schedules for SLP duplications, it will run in the schedule, or if default config, see Table 14-1 in NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I
See When to use on p. 583.
