Changing SLP from duplication to AIR

Hi,

I have a question for all of you.

Is it possible to change an existing SLP doing duplication to AIR (automatic Image Replication)?

Have anyone done this and if so what are the steps?

Are there any risks loosing data?

Thanks

Data backed up / duplicated using an SLP will be restorable wether the SLP exists or not so no problem there If the second site has a media server you cannot use AIR, only optimised duplication. If you want to AIR to the second site you would be best off having a new Master with its own new disk pool on the second site - you cannot just make a Media Server a Master Server and keep the pool there - there are things that could be done but it would make it all very complex and may need specialist services to split your NetBackup system into two. Hope this helps

Have you configured a replication partner yet? If so then you add the replication step to the bottom of your SLP.

You will not lose data but everything managed by the SLP up to this point will not transfer via AIR to the remote site.

If you plan to edit an SLP then make sure everything done by that SLP has completed - so all duplications are up to date. Then you can edit it as required After that everything that runs to it will duplicate using AIR What you cannot do is edit one with images whose lifecycle are not complete (i.e. if you have duplications outstanding) So no problem with editing it - just dont do it when any images are still being processed by the SLP Probably best just to make a new SLP and edit your policies to use that Hope this helps

Question

Will I be able to restore data that was backed up with the old SLP?

I setup the original SLP about a year ago, the second storage was setup as a media server in another datacenter.

Do I need to convert the media server to master?

Can I use the same de-duplication disk pool or do I need to create a new one?

Thanks for your help.

I was afraid that would be the case here.
