Changing Service account password Server and Client

pacadmin
Not applicable

I have inherited a 6.5 Netbackup server that is running and happy (all Windows servers) however we need to change the domain service account it is running under “in theory” here is the catch. All the netbackup services appear to be running as local service on the master server. Some of the clients are also running this way but some are running the service under the domain account. So the question is: Am I missing where this account needs to go? Also of those are the accounts net backup uses how can they all talk if they are only local.

I am looking at the service accounts through windows management.

Windows Services need to be running under domain user accounts only if they access resources on Windows shares or RPC, which NetBackup would only use if you are backing up CIFS shares (\\servername\share). Normally you would back up files locally on a client, therefore you usually do not need to run NetBackup services under a domain account - LocalSystem works fine in 99% of cases.
